Dear USV Community,
I want to take this opportunity to thank
everyone involved with the ending of the 2019/2020 school year at Upper Scioto
Valley. It has been a very challenging
year for all of us. I am sure that none
of us will ever forget the ending of this school year and everything
surrounding it.
Through the help of community donations and
the assistance of many great volunteers, we delivered over 13,200 meals to
students in the Upper Scioto Valley school district. This was made possible by two teams that
worked diligently every Monday. The
packing team would come in at 8:00 am and pack up the meals to be delivered at
noon. The delivery team would arrive at
11:30 am and load buses to deliver these meals to the students’ homes. I asked for volunteers for these teams once
and never had to worry about it again. I
am very thankful to everyone that assisted with the packing and delivery of
these meals.
We also had volunteers that passed out and
picked up schoolwork on four occasions.
The first three of these dates were on a voluntary basis. On all three of those occasions there was
more than enough help to make things run smoothly. Thank you to everyone who assisted in this
important endeavor to continue the education our children. On all 4 occasions, there were over 95% of
students that had work picked up or dropped off. Great job students and families!
I would be remiss if I did not take the
opportunity to thank all the parents/grandparents/guardians that assisted the
students with completing the assigned work.
I know this was not an easy task that was added to your already busy
responsibilities. Thank you very much
for your assistance in working with our staff to educate the students of Upper
Scioto Valley.
I have heard and seen many rumors and
suggestions for the return to school in the Fall of 2020. I can assure you that the administration and
staff at Upper Scioto Valley will do everything in our power to have students
in school safely, every day for the start of the 2020/2021 school year. However, we will have to follow the orders
given to us by the state health department and governor.
Educationally,
Craig M. Hurley
