Welcome to the Performing Arts Department!

The Upper Scioto Valley Performing Arts Department is a program dedicated to the education, growth, and development of students into better artistic performers, better citizens, and better people. We help students to recognize their potential and actualize it. We work to develop students in all areas of their Performing Arts education: Band, Choir, and Drama.

We provide experiences in General Music (K-6), Concert Band (5-12), Jazz Band (8-12), Pep Band (8-12), Marching Band (8-12), Choir (7-12), Show Choir (8-12), and Drama Club (7-12) in order to cultivate well-educated and well-rounded student musicians.

The Upper Scioto Valley Performing Arts Department equips students for their future through instruction in the ideals of self-discipline, respect, perseverance, and kindness. These ideals have formed the Upper Scioto Valley Performing Arts Deparment into a fixture of the community, and we strive every day to fulfill these ideals and to provide an excellent education to our student performers.

  • The Band Department at Upper Scioto Valley Public Schools consists of our 5th Grade Band, 6th Grade Band, Middle School Band, High School Concert Band, Jazz Band, Marching Band, and Pep Band.

These many ensembles are all part of one educational organization with one mission: to serve and instruct your children in instrumental music to the best of our ability. We are committed to working to ensure that your student has the best experience possible in our program as they learn and grow as musicians and as people.

  • The Choir Department at Upper Scioto Valley Public Schools consists of our Middle School Choir, High School Choir, and Scioto Sound Show Choir. The former two Choirs take place during the school day, while the Show Choir is an extracurricular opportunity for our musicians. All of these ensembles are integral to our Performing Arts Department.

Each Choir shares the same three values:

    1. Being in Choir helps me grow not only as a musician, but as a person as well.
    2. By the time I graduate, I will be an accomplished musician who can thrive in any musical situation.
    3. I am proud to be in the Upper Scioto Valley Choirs. Choir is a place where I can be successful and supported.

Throughout the school year, our musicians will have the opportunity to explore different types of music, perform for different audiences throughout our community, develop their own personal musicianship, learn to work together as a team, be in a positive and fun environment, and so much more.

  • Our Drama Club welcomes all 7th-12th grade students! Our Drama Club puts on a winter play and a spring play/musical each year. We are looking for actors, actresses, stage crew members, and students who are interested in learning about audio/lighting technology!

  • Our elementary students will play instruments, sing, dance, play musical games, write our own music, and so much more. Together, we are going to learn about all of the joys of music making.

5th and 6th grade students also have the option to participate in 5th Grade Band and 6th Grade Band!

  • Our Performing Arts Boosters help support all K-12 music students by fundraising and providing relevant educational supplies to our Band, Choir, and Drama Departments. They maintain our marching band uniforms, provide snacks for both bands (home and away) at football games, assist with drama sets/costuming, help prepare food for our Cabaret, and so much more! They hold our annual Performing Arts Boosters Spring Craft Show, which is a beloved event in our community.
